Renewables

Overview

JD Energy's Renewables Practice commenced in early 2009 in recognition of the rising importance of this energy source in the fact of generation and environmental challenges facing the US.  JD Energy has forecasted in-depth regional and state use of specific renewables as part of its electricity forecasts over the past 10 years, but the growing prominence of this sector merits raising it to the level of a separate JD Energy Practice area.

Our Approach

JD Energy is initiating this new practice area by issuing a series of in-depth evaluations of key renewables that contribute to the electricity generation sector.  The following items will be addressed in these papers:

  • The status of current technology and the all-important outlook for technology improvements.
  • The extent of its current use and planned projects in the  international as well as domestic arena.
  • Policy initiatives at the national and state level that will encourage or detract from the development of the renewable.
  • The current cost associated with each technology and our forecast of future costs given technological gains and policy incentives.
  • Our assessment of the future outlook for each renewable.

Our Publications

JD Energy is issuing four major renewable studies in 2009.  These include:

  • Solar (January 2010)
  • Wind (September 2010)
  • Conservation (December 2010)
  • Biomass (June 2010)
